Building Trust Since 1946

Building On History

As a third-generation family-owned company, Stocker Construction is one of the oldest construction companies in St. Louis. It was founded in 1946 by Larry Stocker and two partners. In its early years, the company worked throughout the United States, building 500 homes in Borger, Texas, for Phillips Petroleum; industrial plants in Bogalusa, La., for Gaylord Container Corp.; residences in Florida; and auto plants in Detroit, Mich. The company began working for Southwestern Bell (today’s AT&T) in the 1950s, building many of their central offices and work centers during the 1960s and 70s. That relationship still continues today.

In the mid-60s, partner Sam Forsythe retired and turned his stock over to his son, A. Price Forsythe. As the other partners retired, Price bought their stock and ran the company into the mid-1990s when his daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Steve Beck, assumed ownership.

Today Stocker Construction continues to build on this depth and breadth of experience and our longstanding client relationships. The company has grown significantly in the past several years, and our list of clients now includes established telephone, cable and cellular companies as well as start-ups.

Stocker participates in numerous alliance agreements and holds long-term contracts and “blanket purchase orders” with many clients. Much of our work is done on a negotiated or costs-plus basis. Stocker is also competitive on the open market, recently completing numerous school projects, church projects, interior finish contracts and more.
